    Position Summary:

    Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Gaming, this position assists in the daily compliance duties performed by the Tribal Gaming Regulatory Office. The Compliance Specialist performs various duties to ensure that the gaming operation complies with the requirements of all federal, State, and tribal regulations as they apply to Class II and Class III gaming.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Utilizes gaming knowledge and experience to analyze and review reports, data and statistics from the operation of Class II or Class III games. Acts as the first reviewer for the Assistant Director. Alerts Assistant Director of concerns.
    2. Performs audits, reviews procedures, and tests for compliance with established Tribal Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS), National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) MICS, Tribal-State Compact requirements, casino departmental policies and procedures, and state and federal regulations.
    3. Reviews daily reports in ITrack system. Cross references reports with operations to ensure regulations were followed. Ensures reporting is entered accurately and entirely. Routes back to Agents/Supervisors for revisions. Alerts Assistant Director of concerns.
    4. Assists Assistant Director with barring appeal requests. Provides information to customer for EQC's barring appeal procedures. Sends relevant information to EQC management. Reviews all TGRO barring appeals. Prepares documents for Assistant Director's meeting with customer.
    5. Creates and manages all staff calendar. Compiles all shifts/locations/office schedules into one calendar. Ensures calendar is updated regularly.
    6. Prepare programs, checklist, work papers, schedules, and summaries in accordance with applicable standards.
    7. Prepares monthly compliance reports for Tribal Council and Gaming Advisory Board. Tracks and reviews data to ensure accurate statistics. Ensures reports are in accordance with professional and department standards.
    8. Responsible for possessing a thorough understanding of, and keeping up-to-date with, compliance regulations from NIGC, IGRA and the State Compact.
    9. Other duties as assigned.

    Education and/or Experience

    Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and must have a minimum of four years' experience working as a Tribal Gaming Agent or Gaming Surveillance Observer within Washington State with specific and demonstrated knowledge of Tribal Gaming internal controls and policy and procedures; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Intermediate experience and knowledge using word processing and spreadsheets (i.e. Word for Windows, Excel, Access, etc.) to write reports and log data is required.

    Language Skills

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Licenses or Certificates

    Must have a valid and unrestricted Washington State Driver's License. Driver's License must not contain any restrictions that would otherwise prevent an employee from driving a GSA vehicle.
