    Pay Range

    $ $49.65 Hourly for the 538.2 level

    $ $59.49 Hourly for the 538.3 level

    Job Description

    Asset Management has several openings for a Technical Coordinator/Sr. Technical Coordinator to provide advanced technical support in shipping, receiving, and accounting of radiological materials to facilities and programs. You will perform tasks related to the control and accountability of receivables and materials, maintain records, and maintain equipment in good operating condition. We are looking to fill positions at Site 200 located in Livermore, CA and at Site 300, located in Tracy, CA. These positions are in the Asset Management Department within the Business Directorate.

    You will

    • Perform handling of sensitive, high risk, high dollar value assets. Including, but not limited to classified materials and parts (all levels), select agents (including high hazard and special handling). Ensures sensitive/high risk/high dollar assets are properly secured and/or handled within defined timelines and standards.
    • Be responsible for providing accurate data entry that supplies Asset Management Department reports to track performance and enable decision making. Maintain accurate data entry within property management database, Sunflower, and procurement system, LINCS.
    • Follow institutional policies, procedures, DOT/IATA regulations, or state and federal laws to prepare goods stated for shipment. Must process a wide variety of materials, including DOT hazardous material, for shipment offsite in compliance with vendor policy and government regulations.
    • Represent department/division on Classified Mail audits, self-assessments, and annual accountable document inventories, including both internal and external reviews.
    • May actively maintain procurement delegation status and accept Technical Release Representatives (TRR ) responsibilities on supplier contracts (industrial gases vendor, Pitney Bowes mail machine, etc.)
    • Perform inspections and certification of specialized stock items, ensuring ESH requirements are met. Packaging and transportation Safety Program (PATS) database entry. (PATS inspections)
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Additional job responsibilities, at the 538.3 level

    • Conduct hazardous material shipment oversights ensuring compliance with DOT/IATA regulations and state and federal laws.
    • Independently process a variety of incoming material, which includes segregation of orders/items, data entry, material staging, and delivering.
    • Maintain Site 300 shop stocks by tracking, ordering, restocking, and issuing inventories.
    • Must remain knowledgeable of customer requirements to ensure procurements meet programmatic needs for specific materials (laboratory supplies, safety equipment, etc.).
    Qualifications
    • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
    • Associate degree in hazardous materials management and waste technologist, radiation protection, chemistry, materials science, or environmental science or technology or a Certification in Hazardous Materials, Radiation Protection or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience with receiving, processing, storing, transporting, transferring and packaging-controlled materials.
    • Knowledge of DOT transportation regulations.
    • Working knowledge and understanding of the operation hazardous material receiving, IATA and 49CFR hazardous material regulations, and/or ChemTrack.
    • Experience working with other external entities in coordinating programmatic priorities shipping and receiving, and radioactive materials receiving activities.
    • Experience and knowledge certifying that packaging is following Department of Transportation (DOT), International Air Transport Association (IATA) and/or the Centers for Disease Control regulations
    • Experience with personal computers, spreadsheet software, and word processing software necessary to maintain the storage, inventory, and accurate records of controlled materials.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Certification within three months of hire, which requires a current CA Driver's License, State Driver Record (current driver record from Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) at the time of hire, required annually thereafter), CMV training, CMV Road Test, and Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Evaluation (separate/additional to pre-hire medical evaluation, required every 2 years thereafter).

    Additional qualifications at the 538.3 level

    • Ability to identify problems and provide solutions to complex technical issues.
    • Actively maintains procurement delegation status and adheres to TRR requirements.
    • Special Certifications: PATs, TRR, ChemTrack, DGI, Competent Worker Site 300, Dot Transportation Security Plan Certification, Power Industrial Truck (PIT) Operator License.

    Qualifications We Desire

    • Maintain thorough knowledge of systems required for execution of duties including LLNL's Ship It, Sandia's Web Shipper, FedEx, and UPS systems.

    Site 300

    Site 300 is an experimental test site operated by LLNL. Situated on 7,000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore, Site 300 hosts approximately 200 employees with expertise in such fields as engineering, chemistry, biology, and environmental restoration. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis).

    Security Clearance

    This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.

    Pre-Employment Drug Test
