- Supervises department staff and the daily workflow for the department.
- Select suppliers and place purchase orders that provide the highest quality products with a history of on-time delivery and cost savings benefits.
- Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply of production and related material.
- Establishes performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain.
- Maintains required quantity of supplies and materials to optimize production.
- Analyzes current inventories and procedures; suggests improvements to increase efficiency of supply chain and profitability for the company.
- Negotiates pricing and long-term agreements with suppliers.
- Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
- Thorough understanding of purchasing and supply chain principles and best practices.
- Interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledgeable of export control and ITAR
- Working within an AS9100/ISO/Nadcap accredited company
- Thorough understanding of company products and materials.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Master's degree preferred..
- Demonstrated work experience within a purchasing role in a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace and defense.
- Supervisory experience leading a team of buyers and supplier managers.
- Certification by Institute of Supply Management (ISM) or similar preferred.
- Knowledgeable of government procurement practices.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems, particularly Microsoft Dynamics GP.
- Must be a U.S. person as defined by 22 U.S.C. § 6010
