    Job Title: Drama Club Moderator

    Job Description:

    We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Drama Club Moderator to lead our dynamic theater program. The Drama Club Moderator will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of theatrical productions, from selecting plays/musicals to managing rehearsals and performances. This individual will work closely with students, staff, and the administration to ensure the success of each production while fostering a love for the performing arts within our community. This role will be seasonal based on the needs of the department.

    Responsibilities:

    • Play/Musical Selection: Collaborate with students and administration to select plays/musicals for performance, ensuring alignment with educational goals and community standards.
    • Coordination and Supervision: Coordinate with and supervise support staff, including the Costumer, Technical Director, Asst. Director/Box Office Supervisor, Music Director, and Choreographer. Responsible for recruiting and hiring staff when necessary.
    • Production Management: Develop a calendar for each production, coordinating the use of the theater space and scheduling rehearsals with administration and maintenance staff.
    • Auditions and Casting: Hold auditions, cast productions, and direct two productions each year (fall and spring). Direct musicals every other year.
    • Communication: Communicate effectively with students, parents, and the Beaumont Community about upcoming productions, events, and opportunities within the drama club.
    • Supervision: Supervise all rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and performances to ensure a high standard of artistic quality and safety.
    • Production Design: Develop production design in coordination with the technical director (if applicable), ensuring cohesive artistic vision and effective use of resources.
    • Technical Training: Train students in all technical elements of production, including stage management, lighting, sound, props, costumes, and set design/construction.
    • Publicity and Ticketing: Coordinate publicity efforts for productions and oversee ticketing operations, including sales and distribution.
    • Budgeting and Accounting: Manage budgets for all productions, including expenses related to costumes, props, set design, and other production needs. Maintain accurate accounting records.
    • Maintenance and Organization: Ensure the maintenance and organization of theater spaces, equipment, and stock, including inventory management and regular upkeep.
    • Program Enthusiasm: Cultivate and maintain enthusiasm for the drama club program among students, staff, and the wider community through engaging activities, events, and outreach efforts.

    Qualifications:

    • Previous experience in directing theatrical productions, preferably in an educational setting
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and community members
    • Proficiency in budget management and accounting procedures
    • Knowledge of technical aspects of theater production, including lighting, sound, and set design/construction
    • Commitment to fostering creativity, inclusivity, and artistic excellence within the drama club program
