    We currently have an opportunity for an entry level Civil Engineer to join our Lexington, KY office. The selected candidate will work as part of a team and contribute to the planning, design, and construction of transportation projects for INDOT, KYTC and LPA clients in southern Indiana and northern Kentucky.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Performs design tasks for a variety of roadway improvement projects under the direction of Sr. Engineers.
    • Calculates quantities and cost estimates for roadway, path and stormwater projects.
    • Performs design calculations for sight distance, stopping distance and signal warrants.
    • Develops Maintenance of Traffic and culvert/storm sewer hydraulic design calculations.
    • Develops alignment/grade, drainage systems and roadway plans in Bentley Open Roads Designer.
    • Learns and applies specifications and standards required for assigned design tasks.
    • Assists with field data collection and construction inspection/documentation as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Position Requirements

    • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering; EIT is preferred.
    • Must have a strong interest in the field of transportation engineering and a desire to learn and develop skills toward becoming a licensed Professional Engineer.
    • Previous transportation engineering experience (fulltime or internship) is desired.
    • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply civil engineering fundamentals to academic or real-world projects.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to contribute to reports and presentations and collaborate with other team members.
    • Previous experience with one or more of the following software tools is desired; ORD, MicroStation V8i, GEOPAK, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HCS or Synchro. Proficiency with MS Office (Excel) is desired.
    • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites as needed.
