- Manage the safety program for staff, visitors, volunteers and manages the occupational health program for staff.
- Participate on the in-house safety committee and recommends accident prevention measures that promote safety of museum employees and hundreds of visitors and students.
- Investigate incidents involving waste mishaps and prepares written reports detailing the incident(s) and educates staff on proper procedures.
- Train staff on obtaining and keeping a current inventory of chemicals for all museum divisions

This position is located in The National Museum of Natural History (NMNH), a major bureau of the Smithsonian Institution (SI). The Museum is responsible for the acquisition, curation, and preservation of collections of objects and specimens of natural history and anthropology. Locations in both Washington, DC and Suitland, MD.
