    Nemours is seeking a Director, Perioperative Business Operations for our Wilmington, DE location.


    Primary Functions:
    The Perioperative Services Business Director is responsible for providing organization, planning, direction, and coordinated administration for the operating rooms at NCH‐Delaware, Deptford ambulatory surgery center (ASC) and Malvern ambulatory surgery facility (ASF)


    This position exists to support the Delaware Valley (DV) Vice President, Business Operations along with the Assistant Vice President, Perioperative Services & Sterile Processing as well as the Surgeon‐in‐Chief (SIC).

    The Business Director provides operational leadership assuring that the Department maintains a patient/customer focus while achieving fiscal viability by
    meeting/exceeding budget and operational targets.


    The Director closely collaborates with the VP, AVP and the SIC developing strategic, operating, and financial plans to accomplish the Enterprise Mission and goals.


    The Director communicates with key members of the Hospital, Physician Practice, Risk Management, Quality, Safety, Compliance, Operational Finance, and all other stakeholders necessary to develop support profitable surgical volume growth across the DV.

    Essential Functions:
    Budget owner & Performance Metric user

    Primary Periop user of Harmony financial system, including monitoring and analysis of financial statements, budget variances, and performance indicators. Compile monthly updates for Periop AVP, VP, Business Operations and SIC

    Partner to Operational Finance building annual budget

    Focus throughout fiscal year on metrics designed to improve financial performance relative to prior year and inline with five year target

    Supply Chain management

    Lead and manage Perioperative Supply Chain team

    Manager

    OR Inventory Implant Coordinator

    3x Supply Chain & Logistic Techs

    Shepherd new equipment, instrument and supply requests through RVP and other approval / assessment processes

    Collaborate with Clinical Engineering to manage equipment fleet including projecting retirement and replacement for Capital Budget planning purposes

    Manage surgical contracts and vendor relationships including

    Clinical Service Contracts like one for Christiana ophthalmic scrub tech coverage plus specialty eye surgery supplies

    Surgical equipment and instrumentation

    Sterile Processing Department maintenance agreements on capital equipment (Steris), instrument maintenance (IMS), 3rd party telescope repairs

    Software agreements including Sterile Processing Management (SPM) and Bluefin (IFU repository)

    Collaborate with Purchasing, Legal, Nursing & surgeons to negotiate favorable contract terms.

    Draft business requirements to document needs contract will address

    Develop Harmony reports, tools & workflows to match OR supply cost by division

    EPIC OpTime & OR Scheduling

    Lead and manage scheduling team including 2x Administrative Assistants based at NCH‐DE and counterparts at ambulatory surgery facilities

    Collaborate closely with OpTime clinical application team to develop & implement EPIC enhancements that improve efficiency, functionality and workflow

    Ensure accurate Charge Capture and improve Revenue Cycle performance

    Ensure integrity of Charge Master, Item Master and other related datasets/tables

    Understand insurance claim processes and terminology

    Understand hospital/physician billing and medical terminology

    Be tactful and straight forward with difficult situations

    Ability to maintain confidentiality

    Ability to maintain composure during high pressure situations

    Strong interpersonal/human relation skills

    Ability to persuade and influence

    Strong advocacy for Nemours balanced across multiple OR sites

    Job Requirements:
    Master's Degree preferred.

    Bachelors degree plus relevant Master's coursework with significant Perioperative experience

    More than 5 years of job-related experience required.

    Prior budget responsibility required
