    Description

    The mission of the Kentucky Energy & Environment Cabinet (EEC) is to improve the quality of life for allKentuckians by protecting our land, air, and water resources by utilizing our natural resources in anenvironmentally conscientious manner.

    We do this by helping families connect with nature and preserving theCommonwealth's natural heritage; and by supporting innovative, resilient, and sustainable energy solutionsthat together bring economic benefit to the commonwealth.

    This is a federally funded time-limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as the result of a federal grant.
    The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL positionis required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as anunclassified (non-merit) employee.

    An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee ina permanent position.

    By joining the Division of Water/Water Infrastructure Branch/Engineering Section as an Environmental EngineerII in Franklin County, you will have the opportunity to perform reviews and inspections of plans, designs,activities and operations related to drinking water and wastewater infrastructure to determine compliance withenvironmental engineering standards.

    Holders of the Environmental Engineer II position will complete tasks such as:


    Review and analyze plans and specifications for drinking water and wastewater facility infrastructureconstruction projects for compliance with applicable state and/or federal regulations.

    Provide technical and engineering over-site for projects related to Emerging Contaminants.
    Perform periodic on-site construction inspections for emerging contaminant projects.
    Coordinate with local public water systems and associated partners to support projects.
    Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position:


    Licensure in the State of Kentucky as a Professional Engineer with at least 2 additional years ofengineering experience beyond what is required for licensure.

    Must have two years of engineering experience in addition to that required for licensure as a professional engineer.
    Substitute EDUCATION for


    EXPERIENCE:
    Master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience. Graduate work in engineering beyond a master's degree will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

    Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors.
