    Overview

    Position Description:

    A Data Center HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems within a data center facility. The role involves ensuring optimal environmental conditions for data center equipment by monitoring, analyzing, and addressing HVAC issues. The technician plays a crucial role in supporting the reliability and efficiency of the data center's infrastructure.

    HVAC System Maintenance:

    • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure their proper functioning.
    • Replace or repair defective components and parts to prevent equipment failures and downtime.
    • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment status.

    Monitoring and Analysis:

    • Monitor environmental conditions within the data center, including temperature, humidity, and air quality.
    • Utilize monitoring tools to identify and address deviations from specified conditions.
    • Analyze HVAC system performance and recommend improvements for efficiency and energy conservation.

    Troubleshooting and Repairs:

    • Respond promptly to HVAC system alarms and issues, diagnosing problems and implementing effective solutions.
    • Coordinate with other facility technicians and personnel to resolve complex issues.
    • Perform emergency repairs and adjustments to maintain continuous operation of critical systems.

    Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with other data center teams, including facility operations, electrical, and mechanical teams, to ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems with overall data center infrastructure.
    • Communicate effectively with vendors and contractors for support and procurement of necessary components.

    Compliance and Documentation:

    • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to HVAC systems.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of HVAC maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment specifications.

    Safety and Security:

    • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to create a secure working environment.
    • Participate in regular safety training and drills.

    Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings in HVAC operations.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies related to data center HVAC systems.
    Qualifications
    • High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent
    • Refrigeration/HVAC Trade or Vocational certification required
    • 1+ year experience as an HVAC technician, and willingness to continue education in HVAC field
    • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
