Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care by performing thorough dental cleanings, assisting with patient assessments, and supporting overall oral health education. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster lifelong healthy habits.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting procedures, patient responses, and treatment outcomes in electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling sensitive medical information appropriately.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in the designated area.
- Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments; previous dental office or clinic experience is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy relevant to oral health.
- Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Strong patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while demonstrating professionalism and compassion.
- Understanding of medical coding processes related to dental procedures for accurate documentation and billing purposes.
- Additional skills such as pediatric dentistry expertise, proficiency in vital signs measurement, or experience with medical imaging are advantageous.
