    OVERVIEW:

    As the Associate Finance Manager of the Accounting Policy Group with General Mills, you will have the opportunity to operate in a dynamic accounting and controls environment within the Global Accounting Organization (GAO). You will partner with GAO and cross-functional business partners on complex accounting and policy consultations in addition to maintaining accurate accounting and control policies in an evolving regulatory environment.

    This role offers many unique developmental and leadership opportunities, including:

    • Involvement in significant enterprise initiatives in support of our Accelerate strategy to drive shareholder value.
    • Leadership of the assessment and adoption of FASB Accounting Standard Updates and other evolving regulatory requirements. This includes significant partnership with various GAO and cross-functional teams to ensure an accurate and timely adoption of guidance on a global basis.
    • Deepening accounting and reporting technical expertise from both recurring and nonrecurring activities.
    • Significant networking opportunities and frequent exposure to business partners and leaders within cross-functional teams as well as Finance functions including Operating Unit Finance, Corporate Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Finance Learning & Development, among others

    Enablers for success in this role includes the ability to work proactively, concisely communicate complex information, have a high attention to detail, ability to partner with multiple internal and external business partners, and high technical accounting and financial acumen.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Partner with both GAO teams and cross-functional business partners to lead the assessment of the accounting impact of new transactions and initiatives as well as implement new accounting and regulatory guidance.
    • Advise GAO teams on complex accounting and policy questions. Serve as the global consultation lead on inquiries, including partnership with cross-functional teams.
    • Maintain our global accounting & control standards.
    • Drive process improvement in our dynamic global accounting & controls environment.
    • Monitor the external environment for new regulatory and accounting guidance. Lead assessment and implementation efforts for the GAO.
    • Partner with Finance Learning & Development and other GAO business partners to contribute to finance, accounting, and controls educational curriculum.
    • Partner with various external and internal business partners, both Finance and cross-functional. Frequently interact with Finance Leadership Team members within the GAO to ensure global adherence to GAAP requirements.
    • Contribute to our quarterly SEC filing processes.
    • Other duties as assigned

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • B.S. in Accounting
    • CPA
    • 5+ years relevant experience
    • Detailed-oriented, results-oriented, proactive
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Commitment to process excellence
    • Aptitude for broad US GAAP subject matter, codification research and documentation experience
    • Ability to work independently

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's in Accounting
    • Big Four public accounting firm experience
    • Experience with the implementation of new accounting standards

    Salary Range

    The salary range for this position is $ $ / Annually.
