- Implement one class of at least 6 hours per day.
- Conduct screenings and assessments in accordance with Performance Standards.
- Observe and record the growth and development of all children in the classroom.
- Implement the program curriculum and adapt for children with special needs.
- Promote family engagement in the Head Start program.
- Maintain accurate records and files to support annual Program Information Report (PIR).
- Utilize human resources effectively.
- Maintain confidentiality of all student and family information, adhering to CCIU standards.

The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) has multiple openings for Preschool Teachers in our Head Start programs for the School Year We have locations in West Chester and Coatesville, PA.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

b. All lessons and activities must be aligned with state standards.
c. Design classroom environment to maximize student engagement and learning.
Within 45 days of entry each student must have a developmental and a social-emotional screening performed by the Child Development Specialist.
b. All screenings that require follow-up must be communicated to supervisor and Family Service Worker following established guidelines.c. Communicate with the assigned Family Service Worker to ensure that students receive all appropriate referrals and evaluations.
Input observations into Student Management System on a weekly basis, with a minimum expectation of 20 observations per class per week.
Observations must be aligned with curriculum expectations.b. Assess students utilizing the Student Management System three times per year. Assessments must be linked to state standards, student observations, and Head Start School Readiness Goals.
b. Specifically design classroom activities aligned with IEP goals.
c. Confer with specialized instructors to ensure that student programming is provided in the least restrictive manner.
d. Consistently implement suggestions and materials provided by the specialized instructor.

Conduct one home visit upon student entry to the program utilizing materials designed to acclimate parents to the Head Start program.
c. Conduct two parent-teacher conferences per year. Utilize student assessments to inform parents of their child's growth and development.d. Provide individualized resources and strategies to promote Kindergarten Readiness.
b. Student attendance and meal service must be monitored at point of service and input into Student Tracking System daily.
c. Ensure all required screenings are up to date and in child's file.
d. Ensure that all assessments and parent-teacher conference forms are in child's file.
b. Train all new adults, whether staff or volunteers, regarding classroom schedule, routines, and Head Start requirements.
c. Ensure that students from local education entities are provided opportunities to fulfill course requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS:
b. Ability to write reports, formal correspondence, and procedural documents that conform to prescribed style and format.
c. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of supervisors, administrators, staff, and the general public.

Salary:
$28.51 to $36.43/hour based on years of experience
Schedule:
7.5 hrs. per day; Monday- Friday 8AM - 3:30PM; 190 days a year
