    About the Position:


    The district manager supervises the work of staff performing a variety of skilled, semiskilled and unskilled carpentry, maintenance technicians, painters and locksmiths.

    The position will review work orders and determine priorities; assign and schedule work; estimate costs of repair and other projects; maintain inventory and assemble tools and equipment for projects; instruct staff in proper work procedures, use of hand tools and power equipment and safety procedures; inspect work in progress and upon completion; examine buildings and fixtures for needed repairs and maintenance and makes recommendations to on work that needs to be complete.

    The role is responsible for supervising and implementing programs for the proper maintenance of buildings throughout the University and ensuring the overall appearance and operational functionality.

    He/She/They evaluates performance levels, and recommends personnel actions ensuring jobs are prioritized, and activities are complete and satisfactory

    Essential Functions:

    Supervise the day to day operations of staff, reviewing and assigning work orders to staff daily, and developing work schedules to ensure the facilities are safe and well preserved.

    Oversee Preventative Maintenance Program through internal staff and external contractors

    Responsible for maintaining supply inventory for supplies, equipment, and tools to ensure that personnel have supplies and equipment available to complete assignments.

    Assist with identifying ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to leadership.
    Responsible for performing training that includes but not limited to Safety, Standard Operating Procedures, Policies, Procedures and the like. Ensures that assigned employees receive opportunities to further their knowledge.
    Perform daily inspections of facilities and equipment
    Responsible for time management of team, approving staff's time, scheduling, documenting absences, approving and tracking vacation, sick, or etc.
    Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
    Qualifications


    Education and Experience:
    High school diploma or equivalent is required.
    Seven to nine years of work experience is required.

    Familiarity with a variety of facility maintenance concepts, practices, and procedures as well as the management of persons operating in various related trades is required.

    Applicable certifications and licenses preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


    Candidate must demonstrate understanding of corrective and preventive maintenance concepts with a working knowledge of a facilities and grounds operations.

    This position will be expected to work independently and keep the Associate Director and all key stakeholders updated on an as needed basis.

    Candidate will be expected to be available for emergency response, as necessary, and occasional evening and weekend work may be asked.

    Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies.

    Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.
    Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
    This position requires on-call rotation responsibilities for evening & weekend work & scheduled & unscheduled work. Schedules may be adjusted for coverage for 1st & 2nd shifts during weekdays &/or weekends for temporary/permanent shift changes.
