    Support pharmacy management by guiding daily pharmacy technician operations. Ensure other pharmacy technicians have the resources and training necessary to perform their jobs effectively.

    Oversee either pharmacy automation, packaging, or a dedicated pharmacy technician operations in tandem with pharmacy leadership and serves as a leader and mentor to pharmacy technician peers.

    Must be licensed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a pharmacy technician required, preferred to have 6 months with Saint Alphonsus.

    Completion of college level certificate or bachelor's degree preferred.

    Supervises and assists pharmacy technicians with their roles in the pharmacy. Provides structure and oversight for pharmacy technician orientation, training, and competency assurance. Coaches less experienced staff. Schedules pharmacy technicians, finds replacements for technicians out sick or on vacation and ensures shift changes run smoothly. Appropriately utilizes resources to ensure shifts are adequately covered.

    Assists in hiring/recruitment (in coordination with pharmacy management). Counsels staff members on their performance and provides documentation of exemplary and unsatisfactory work performance at time of occurrence. Assists in performance evaluations in coordination with pharmacy management. outdates, unit inspections) and provides follow up. Provides administrative and clerical support with regards to keeping records, running reports, and maintenance of data.

    Ensures that look-alike, sound-alike medications are segregated in automated distribution equipment. Maintains outdated medication tracking function, ensuring appropriate expiration dates are entered, stock is rotated, and expired items removed. Maintains appropriate par levels for inventories in automated distribution equipment.

    Conducts controlled substances inventories and reconciliation in automated distribution system in accordance with state laws and regulations and facility policy.

    Reviews controlled substances discrepancy reports daily and reconciles unresolved discrepancies appropriately and in a timely manner as specified by facility policy.

    Utilizes data mining software to analyze data and identify inappropriate use of the automated distribution system. Ensures that automation processes are aligned with hospital policy (i.e., Provides oversight of drug shortage management as they relate to pharmacy automation processes. Assists with communicating with hospital colleagues regarding pharmacy automation processes.

    Participates in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement activities. Develops and enforces policies and procedures that promote safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication use. Prepares trending reports as appropriate for quality improvement activities based on analysis of data.

    Provides courteous, cooperative, and timely service to patients, visitors, and staff members; Aids in the day-to-day needs of the department (in coordination with pharmacy management).

    Effectively uses available software and information systems.

    Adheres to health-system policies and procedures; complies with all requirements related to risk management, safety, medication-use safety, security, fire safety, and infection control; complies with all applicable federal/state/local laws, rules, and regulations; and performs all duties under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.

    Performs essential duties of pharmacy technicians when needed and as assigned.
