Middle and Upper School Spanish Instructor

Canterbury School of Florida is seeking an experienced and dynamic Middle and Upper School Spanish Instructor who can demonstrate fluency in the spoken and written language, along with teaching multiple levels of Middle and Upper School Spanish curriculum.This instructor will collaborate closely with the World Languages faculty and will also implement LEADS (Canterbury's character education program) through advisory and be expected to perform various duties that support the Knowlton Campus (Grades 5 through 12). In addition, this teacher will have a commitment to the School's mission and an interest in community involvement through participation in school-wide committees and activities.

Skills and Abilities

• Develop and implement a challenging and engaging curriculum for Middle and Upper School students in Spanish.
• Demonstrate a passion for world languages, a love of teaching Middle and Upper school students, intellectual curiosity, strong communication skills, and the ability to receive constructive feedback.
• Utilize a variety of instructional methods and resources to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and discovery.
• Assess student learning through a variety of methods and provide timely and constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate the study of Spanish across disciplines and grade levels.
• Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and classroom activities.
• Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and school-wide events as required.

  Educational and Other Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Spanish (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in Middle or Upper School Spanish.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in Spanish language education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to professional growth and development.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background screening, drug testing, and safety training required.
