    Quality Manager Job Description

    Role Overview: The Quality Manager will develop and manage quality systems in compliance with AS 9100 standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and manage company and supplier quality initiatives to ensure continuous process improvement and high-quality outcomes.
    • Oversee the Quality Department's operations, including incoming materials, manufactured components, and finished products quality levels. Establish and enforce quality standards and specifications, conduct system and product audits to ensure compliance with corporate, customer, and industry requirements, and supervise quality assurance staff.
    • Implement and execute AS 9100 procedures to identify and resolve process inefficiencies, product quality issues, and vendor and customer concerns. Maintain AS 9100 training and actively participate in AS 9100 management reviews relevant to departmental responsibilities.

    Specific Tasks:

    • Provide leadership for the quality function, hold regular meetings to review progress, continuously coach and develop employees, conduct timely performance reviews, and manage career path planning.
    • Offer quality engineering support during manufacturing scale-up to ensure proper product process development and compliance with user requirements, corporate standards, and regulatory guidelines.
    • Manage contract reviews and quality metrics, drive continuous improvement through trend analysis, and establish new metrics as needed.
    • Participate in quote launches, risk mitigation meetings, and new product start-ups to ensure design control compliance and establish key checkpoints.
    • Communicate quality data from various sources to support risk management and ensure purchase order compliance.
    • Oversee the corrective and preventive action (CAPA) process, management review, and internal quality audits.
    • Manage Non-Conforming Material Reviews, Material Review Board (MRB) activities, supply chain quality, supplier audits, approvals, and corrective actions.
    • Control documentation and record-keeping for engineering documents and company procedures, including environmental control procedures.
    • Support test development, equipment calibration activities, and preventive maintenance.
    • Handle customer complaint investigations and the GIDEP alert process.
    • Develop, implement, and monitor company training on AS9100 work instructions, including QMS documentation, BAE Opsec, and counterfeit avoidance.
    • Support the safety committee.

    Level and Complexity:

    • Receive assignments as objectives and set goals to meet them. Provide guidance to subordinates to achieve goals according to established policies. Performance is reviewed based on meeting objectives and schedules. Recommend policy changes affecting functional areas. Poor decisions or failure to meet goals can result in additional costs, personnel issues, and significant delays.
    • Frequently interact with subordinate supervisors, customers, suppliers, and peer managers. Interactions typically involve cross-functional matters.
    • Manage department activities through subordinate supervisors, ensuring cost-effective methods and employee performance.

    Requirements:

    • B.S. in Business, Engineering, or a related field, with at least ten years of relevant experience.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Analytical problem-solving skills.
    • Experience in Total Quality Management and process improvement.
    • IPC certifications are a plus.

    ADA Requirements:

    • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Ability to drive to and visit customers.
    • Basic math skills.
    • Computer literacy and keyboard use.
