As a Process Controls Engineer (Experienced, Senior or Principal), you will be part of an amazing, collaborative team working on proprietary programs.

As a highly productive, talented, self-motivated, and creative member of Boeing Research and Technology, you will work with multiple engineering and support groups, on both ongoing operational efforts and exciting future projects.

This position will be based in El Segundo, California.

Within BR&T's Mission System Technologies (MST) organization, Boeing's Advanced Computing Technology (ACT) team performs innovation, development and maturation of Advanced Computing and associated subordinate technologies.

This exciting position requires demonstrated experience in control system development and industrial process control systems with Programmable Logic Controllers, a diverse background of project experience, and the clear exhibition of superior judgment and decision making to engineer new solutions and support existing capabilities.

This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining process control systems and programming necessary for the operation of equipment and machinery used in the processing of chemicals and noble gases; including documenting, developing, implementing and sustaining equipment and machines for the production, review and approval/comment for supplier developed control system products, validation and inspection of the end product.

This position works under minimal supervision and may provide mentoring, supervision and training to othersDemonstrated critical thinking and troubleshooting skills are required.

Control System design based on operating objectives and stakeholder requirementsSoftware requirements and functional flow chart development derived from Control System designControl system software development in a Siemens environment (Siamatic PL)

Plan, develop & maintain new and existing applicationsPerform software lifecycle management, including requirements analysis, detailed design, coding, unit/integration testing, maintenance, and user support (including documentation/training)Troubleshoot and resolve various software and control system issues reported by end usersPlan, develop, select, tailor and deploy software processes, tools and metricsCoach and mentor less experienced department personnel to develop their skills and abilitiesProvide guidance, leadership, mentoring and training for techniciansThis position is expected to be 100% onsite.

The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer scienceExperience with industrial control systems including programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and instrumentationPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):10+ years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceUnderstanding of PID controller design and operating principalsAbility to read and understand process documentation including Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, functional flow schematics, and control logic descriptions.

Ability to develop machine programs and documentation using machine programming languages.

This includes programming PLCs, and control system tuningAbility to clearly communicate and document programs and functional flows such that it is understandable by peers and can be used in debug and trouble shooting.

Ability to integrate multiple pieces of equipment or stations into a systemExperience with valve, pump and compressor control principals and systemsBS in Automation, Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering discipline desired5+ years of experience in the following areas:

programming (e.g., C++, Siemens TIA Portal, Siemens SCL, Siemens Graph ,Siemens WINCC SCADA, Java, XML, C#, IEC , operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux)5+ years of applicable experience in the design, development, operation and maintenance of process equipment control systems with PLCsAbility to implement and troubleshoot industrial communication networks including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, DeviceNet, RS-232/422/4851+ years of experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, Access, MS SQL) and database management tasks, including, but not limited to schema design/implementation, scripting (e.g.

, PL/SQL, stored procedures) and schema-level troubleshootingSuccessfully adjudicated Tier 5 (T5) (formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI))

United States security clearance investigation and have had an active Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information access within the last 24 months.

Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g.

PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Principal (Level 6)Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g.

Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g.

PhD+15 years' related work experience, Master+18 years' related work experience).
