Anesthesia Technician AnesthesiaFull Time77472BRJob SummaryThe Anesthesia Technician's primary responsibility is to maintain all anesthesia service areas in readiness for use by Anesthesiologists and Anesthetists.

The service areas include all operating rooms in the main OR and Cysto. Additional service areas include but are not limited to OB, Radiology, MRI, all pre-op and PACU facilities.

Responsible for anesthesia equipment and supplies as described in this job description maintains proper workflow in anesthesia and is accountable to the Manager of Anesthesia Support Services and the OR manager.

The technician must be able to work independently and may act as a preceptor.

Responsible for knowledge of and compliance with all applicable infection control, health and safety policies and procedures implemented by the department and/or work unit and UCSF Medical Center.

Required QualificationsOne year experience as an Anesthesia TechnicianHigh School diploma; or equivalent experienceBasic mathematical skills to quickly and accurately add, subtract, divide and multiply whole numbers and decimals manually using a calculatorKnowledge of medical/surgical and anesthetic terminologyAbility to work independently with good organizational skillsAbility to see well and read in dim light; able to distinguish colors on the anesthesia monitorsAbility to work quickly and accurately under pressureGood communication skills; ability to be clearly understood; ability to be friendly, courteous, and work in a cooperative mannerManual dexterity to manipulate small equipment including, but not limited to, twisting bulbs, turning dials, changing batteries, and pushing buttons; able to move in confined spaces; able to repetitively lift, push, or pull up to 50 poundsThe flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locationsPreferred QualificationsCertification as an Anesthesia TechnicianAbout UCSFAt UCSF Health, our mission of innovative patient care, advanced technology and pioneering research is redefining what's possible for the patients we serve - a promise we share with the professionals who make up our team.
