    Summary

    The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a personable, empathetic, self-motivated, and organized Research Coordinator to independently coordinate a large, federally-funded, longitudinal study focused on polysubstance use and behavioral economics.

    Responsibilities*

    Key job responsibilities will include:
    • Independently coordinating a large-scale federally funded research project.
    • Providing functional and administrative supervision for a research team, including maintaining training standards.
    • Coordinating research activities across multiple sites.
    • Ensuring that regulatory standards for human subjects research are met.
    • Independently preparing and submitting regulatory reports (IRB Reports, AE/ORIO documentation, RPPR, etc.).
    • Performing routine quality assurance checks such as reviewing data structure, auditing consent logs, and others.
    • Ensuring proper functioning of advanced behavioral economic research tasks and novel timeline follow-back interviews.
    • Addressing participant concerns regarding study related activities such as consent, assessments, payment, and more.
    • Ensuring adequate documentation of all purchases and incentives distributed.

    Required Qualifications*

    Educational & Experiential Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field
    • 4 or more years of directly related experience.
    Other necessary qualities:
    • Excellent customer service skills for interacting with participants (e.g. personable, empathic, and able to communicate effectively).
    • Excellent organizational skills, professional, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
    • The ability to work independently for extended periods of time while also being a team player and maintaining effective communication with other research staff and principal investigators.
    • Comfort interacting with diverse populations and discussing sensitive topics (e.g. substance use, suicide, and other related mental health concerns) with study participants.
    • The ability to reliably work onsite in Ann Arbor, MI.
    Desired Qualifications*
    • Previous experience working on research projects focused on substance use.
    • Experience with behavioral economics tasks and semi-structured interviews.
    • Experience in a large complex health care setting
    • Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
    • Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team
    • Familiarity with MiChart, Qualtrics, REDCap, online research recruitment platforms, and MS Excel.
    Work Schedule

    This position is for a full time role (40 hours per week), with regular hours that will be determined in concert with the supervisor. This role will require some flexibility and availability to work the occasional evening or weekend shift as needed to meet the needs of the patient population.

    Work Locations

    This position may require in-person work at our office located in Ann Arbor.

    Background Screening

    Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.

    In addition to the screenings indicated above under Michigan law, a criminal history check including fingerprinting is required as a condition of transfer or employment for this position.
