We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to help build the next generation of our systems control platform that runs on our world class quantum computers. Controlling a Quantum Computer is much like a system for a robot, managing feedback loops at various time scales between sensors and actuators to create a precisely tuned environment where we can perform high fidelity quantum computations.

    Responsibilities:

  • Define and drive the multi-year team vision that showcases the technical north star for what your team is building and the staff allocation plan to support it.
  • Work closely with engineers to architect and deliver the best technical designs and approaches for the high level systems that maintain and control optimal state of the quantum computer.
  • Work closely with cross-functional partners to help integrate new functionality into the systems control platform across multiple projects and hardware targets.
  • Run agile planning meetings and utilize Jira for tracking work across the team.
  • Hire, support, and mentor to meet the goals of the team and each individual engineer.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading or contributing to multiple complex hardware/software product development efforts. You'll be able to balance business decisions with technical risk and reward to make great technology choices. You'll strive for simplicity and demonstrate significant creativity and incisive judgment.

You'd be a good fit with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience -- untraditional backgrounds are welcome here
  • 1+ years experience of engineering team management
  • 4+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing hardware/software systems.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, security certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product and program management teams to create and drive your team's technical and business roadmap.

You'd be a great fit with:

  • Deep expertise in Go and/or Rust with distributed systems experience.
  • A background in robotics, embedded systems or OS device drivers development
  • Experience with programmatic device control (SCPI, MODBUS, etc. over serial, USB, TCP)

    Location:

This position is located in our newest facility in Bothell, WA.
