    Camp Seneca Lake (CSL) is a premier co-ed overnight summer camp set on 200+ acres on Seneca Lake in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of Western New York. For over 90 summers CSL has given campers in grades 3-12 a special place to recharge, unplug, and connect to nature and friends. CSL welcomes all campers into a safe compassionate community where each child is encouraged to become their best self.

    Children from all backgrounds come together to learn important life skills that will stay with them through adulthood. Campers develop independence, form lifelong friendships, and a deep connection to a tight knit community that is strong at its core. CSL is owned and operated by the Jewish Community Center of Greater Rochester, and we are an inclusive community center and camp that welcomes campers and staff of all faiths, backgrounds, and ages.

    The Camp Facilities and Maintenance job is a seasonal position May through September with primary focus on housekeeping and maintenance required for camp buildings and grounds to prepare for camp opening, to maintain property during the active camp-in-session summer months, and to perform activities to close camp for autumn and winter. Includes groundskeeping, mowing, and other land care activities.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     • Perform cleaning and upkeep of property and buildings to prepare for camp opening and ensure a safe and welcoming environment
    • Complete daily, weekly and monthly checklists for building and grounds maintenance
    • Perform a variety of work in maintenance, repair of buildings, and groundskeeping
    • Work independently to complete preventive maintenance tasks
    • Perform lawn care tasks including mowing, weed whacking, brush clean-up, etc.

    Key competencies for Success:

    • Represent a positive image of the CSL when interacting with campers, camp families and the CSL/JCC staff
    • Sense of urgency to respond to emergency maintenance requests
    • Positive attitude to effectively complete a wide variety of maintenance and cleaning tasks in an outdoor summer camp setting

    Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma or GED preferred
    • Mechanical aptitude and experience with light carpentry, electrical, and plumbing preferred
    • Groundskeeping/land care experience required

    • Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, grasping and twisting, climb or balance
    • Dexterity to effectively use tools and mechanical equipment (hedge clippers, power washers, lawn movers, weed wackers, hammers, wrenches, etc.)
    • Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
    • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
    • Ability to assist children in an emergency

    • Ability to assist children in an emergency

    • May 6th - September 27
    • 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
    • Monday - Friday
