Summary of Responsibilities

The Upper School Math Teacher is responsible for teaching at least four Mathematics classes in Hackley's Upper School. The preferred candidate will have an appropriate background (undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred) and teaching experience. Candidates should have an abiding interest in the academic, social and emotional well-being of students; be willing to work collaboratively with the math department and the broader faculty community; and be interested in contributing to the extracurricular life at Hackley (which could include coaching, club advising, etc.).

Reporting Structure

The Upper School Math Teacher will report to the Chair of the Math Department as well as to the Director of the Upper School.

Specific Responsibilities

• Responsibilities associated with that of a subject area teacher include lesson planning, development and assignment of student learning activities, student assessment, record keeping, grading, and grade reporting
• Creation of a warm and engaging classroom environment
• Active, positive, and professional participation in all faculty meetings
• Effective communication with students, colleagues and parents
• Participation and support for the growth of the department's instructional program
• A teaching load based on faculty strengths and departmental needs
• Other division-based responsibilities, such as advising students, as assigned by the division director The ideal candidate will possess:
  • BS in mathematics-related field required; MA preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • The ability to teach high level courses such as AP Statistics and Multivariable Calculus. Salary and Benefits:

    The annual salary range for this position is $71,850–$109,566 with experience informing a base salary as published in Hackley's faculty salary stage scale.
