    WEEKEND DAY SHIFT RAIL LOAD OUT OPERATOR (Friday through Monday 5AM to 5PM)

    Job Description Summary

    Responsible for the loading and railcars and ensuring that material is available to load customer rail cars.

    • Performs inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs of the load-out system and all equipment used to load material at the Marble Falls Plant.
    • Inspects railcars prior to loading. Inspects for cleanliness and condition of cars such as brakes, holes in railcar and other maintenance issues prior to loading. Cleans railcars as required.
    • Contacts Manager regarding maintenance issues found.
    • Verifies car list to tag reader and adds and deletes any railcar changes within the computer system. Assigns cars to correct customer order by verifying products and amount to be loaded with computer system. Loads cars through automated load out system ensuring correct blend of the product is being loaded. Bills the cars out with the railroad using the rail connect system. Updates the shipment master and production report using current reporting methods. Stages or pulls up the loaded cars either to hold cars in the plant or makeready for cars to be picked up by the railroad.
    • Troubleshoots issues with load out plant and or computer system.
    • Perform duties that are assigned by Supervisor

    Work & Physical Requirements

    • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
    • Must pass a pre-employment "Fit for Work" physical.
    • Must be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.
    • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
    • Must be willing to work all shifts, days, night and weekends. Overtime is required for this position.
    • Report to work at the designated schedule: Friday Through Monday 5AM to 5PM
    • Must be able to work overtime when required.
    • Ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions, extreme heat and cold.
    • Must have valid driver's license and meet the qualifications of the fleet safety program.
    • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
    • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
    • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age due to nature of working environment.
    • Ability to perform job task assignments 8 to 12 hours per day, 7 days a week and occasional weekends.
    • Ability to lift 30 lbs. ground to shoulder height frequently and up to 75 lbs. ground to waist level height occasionally.
    • Ability to perform tasks on rough, uneven surfaces and terrain in often wet/damp conditions.
    • Ability to work and perform tasks at heights from 1 to 100 feet from the ground while utilizing a personal fall arrest harness and lanyard.
    • Work on stairs, ladders, raised platforms, flat and angled surfaces at varying heights.
    • Capable of speaking, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, climbing ladder and stairs, bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping for periods extending to twelve (12) hours per shift.
    • Hear with ability to discriminate between sounds and maintain awareness of surroundings
    • Ability to operate heavy equipment.
    • Ability to work safely in a fast paced environment. Ability to work outside, tolerate ambient seasonal temperature extremes, humidity, and generally dry/dusty conditions. Ability to work around chemicals, solvents, fumes, acids, grease and fuels.
    • Ability to work in confined and tight work areas as well as move heavy objects in tight areas.
    • See with ability to eliminate workplace hazards within reasonable means and to avoid personal injury or property damage.
    • Ability to use/wear personal protection equipment, respirators, hearing protection, gloves, protective eyewear, hardhats, protective clothing and industrial footwear.

    Education / Experience

    • GED/High School Diploma preferred.
    • Experience is preferred but not required
    • Must have valid drivers' license.
    • Must effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
    • Must have good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
    • Must have an excellent safety record and be a very safe employee.
    • Ability to supervise own work and be self-motivated.
    • Ability to learn computer systems.
    • Ability to learn and operate heavy equipment including train locomotives.
