- Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services
- Performs inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment
- Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
- Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and requisitions new parts.
- Performs all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
- Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
- Conducts safety checks on vehicles.
- Assists senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.
- Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Weld broken parts and structural members.
- Must be able to read and comprehend repair manuals.
- Other related job functions may include, but not limited to:
- Examines parts for damage and/or excessive wear
- Using micrometers and gauges.
- Tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiently
- May direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
- May perform incidental work items included within other crafts as well as related duties.
- Prefer candidate who currently has or would be able to acquire and maintain a Class A CDL
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekend hours.

- Education and Experience. This position typically is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Mechanic. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred. Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees. Three (3) to Five (5) years or more of industry related experience is required for this position, with an emphasis on repairing Fleet vehicles . Valid Florida driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
- Physical Demands. Heavy physical effort required. Ability to lift 0 to 50 pounds occasionally for hand work; Must be able to stand, bend, stretch for extended periods of time; ability to bend crouch and climb on and off the equipment repetitively; Use hands, arms and legs fully, acceptable vision (either naturally or with corrective lens). Continuous mental and visual attention required to complete tasks in efficient manner involving repetitive or diversified work requiring alertness of activity. Constant care necessary to prevent injury to others due to inherent hazards of construction work. Any accident should be immediately reported to the supervisor. The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., moving equipment, backing alarms, or other alarms, instructions/directions from supervisor and/or spotter).
- Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Mechanic encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.
- Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
- Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and ready mixed concrete.
