    Description
    Actively engage students in the learning process; plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that meet the needs of individual learners with dyslexic
    Provide resources and training to school staff and parents regarding dyslexia instruction and identification in the general classroom
    Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to accommodate curricula as needed for dyslexia students according to guidelines established in the 504 Individual Accommodation Plan
    Conduct formal and informal assessment for dyslexia identification and progress monitoring
    Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required
    Serve as a liaison between campus Section 504 Chairperson and district Section 504 Coordinator and Supervisor
    Assist with Section 504 compliance at assigned campuses
    Present dyslexia assessment data to district Section 504 committees.
    Mentor, Train and provide technical assistance to campus dyslexia facilitators and dyslexia teachers
    Conduct campus visits to ensure dyslexia services are provided in accordance with state and local mandates
    Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position


    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job.

    A remote working environment /alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus-based employees/campus-based positions because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus-based personnel.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree required in Education or in a directly related field; Master's Degree preferred
    Valid Texas teacher certificate; Dyslexia Practitioner or Therapist certification preferred
    Three years of directly related experience
    Knowledgeable about federal and state laws and mandates regarding dyslexia student identification, placement, and instruction
    Knowledgeable about federal laws regarding students with disabilities
    Knowledgeable about district procedures regarding evaluation and identification of dyslexia
    Experience working with/teaching children with learning differences
    Ability to work independently to serve multiple campuses as assigned
    Ability to communicate effectively with teacher, parents, and administrators
    Ability to work with various kinds of technology
    Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world
    Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession
