2020, Export Development Consultant at ROOTS OF PEACE (California-based) at USAID Afghanistan Project

  • USAID-funded Export Development Project for Afghan agricultural businesses, supporting the local companies, traders and food processors in starting the export of goods and expanding existing export capabilities for the Central Asia and Middle East target markets. My scope of work comprised several directions, such as identification of new export markets, relevant sales channels and trade shows, exhibitors’ participation coordination and organization, export sales strategy definition and provision of the competitiveness analysis for the beneficiary companies. Other responsibilities included report preparation for USAID, as well elaboration of other technical and analytical documentation. 

 

2017-2019, Acting Director and Deputy Director at Enterprise Georgia Agency

  • “Enterprise Georgia” Agency is a Legal Entity of Public Law under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, which is the main state institution responsible for supporting the development of micro, small and medium size enterprises in Georgia. Enterprise Georgia develops, promotes and implements the business development programs, including access to finance and portfolio guarantee, business loans co-financing, exports promotion, investments promotion and market-led skills development. 
  • My major responsibilities included the organization’s day-to-day management, supervision and monitoring of business development programs and provision of high-quality services for beneficiary companies (400+ enterprises), as well as organizational strategy development and analysis, and partnership development with relevant stakeholders.  

 

2015-2017, Market Development Program Officer at Swedish International Development Agency (Sida)

  • Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) is a Swedish Governmental organization with more than 25 years of presence in Georgia under the Embassy of Sweden, and is the third largest donor in terms of development programs portfolio among international donor organisations in the country. 
  • My responsibilities included, but were not limited to the implementation of SIDA’s Results Strategy 2014-2020 in the area of market development, aiming: 1) to enhanced economic integration with the European Union (EU) and development of market economy, supporting Georgia in better fulfilment of the EU requirements for potential membership and applicable association agreements, including Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Areas (AAs/DCFTAs). 2) to increase the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises by supporting them to make up a greater share of the economy. 
  • My other responsibilities included the administration and supervision of SME market development-oriented projects portfolio, including monitoring and evaluation of SIDA-funded projects implementation, including Access to Finance of Portfolio Guarantee of $ 20 mln Program for SMEs in strategic partnership with one of the leading commercial banks (TBC Bank) in Georgia. Under these projects, I was directly engaged in stakeholder business consultations related to the winning strategy development and analysis, regarding the exports of goods and internationalization of services towards the European markets. 

 

2011-2014, Manager at Deloitte Consulting and Deputy Component Lead of Manufacturing and Services Component at USAID Economic Development (EPI) Project in Georgia

  • Deloitte consulting helps global manufacturers translate their business strategy into practical operational plans through effective manufacturing strategy. As a part of this direction, Deloitte Consulting implemented a $40 mln USAID-funded Economic Prosperity 4-year project (EPI) in Georgia, aiming at identification and development support for the high-potential growth sectors and value chains in local manufacturing, services and agricultural businesses. 
  • As a Manager and Deputy Component Lead, I was responsible for manufacturing and service value chains portfolio development, covering the following sectors: Apparel industry, MICE Tourism, Wine Tourism, General Tourism, Transport and Logistics, IT, Business Development Services, Construction Materials and Paper Packaging production. 
  • As a part of the team, I was responsible for the identification of high business growth potential sectors, through comprehensive value chain assessment in up to 25 sectors, aiming at the business development of circa 150 enterprises operating in the mentioned sectors. My scope of work covered project management, business consulting, technical, analytical, marketing, promotional and sales activities for the enterprises in order to increase their turnover, productivity, investments, exports and access to finance capabilities. 
  • In addition to direct assistance to enterprises, I was also responsible for the partnership development and stakeholder engagement in public, civil society and educational sectors. 
  • As a result of my direct contribution, overall investments in the sectors increased by more than 600% and exports grew by more than 400% within the framework the project. 
  • My other significant achievements include the support to the establishment of new sustainable organizations, such as Georgian Convention and Exhibition Bureau in MICE tourism industry, Georgian Logistics Association, Georgian Farmers’ Association, as well as contribution to the capacity development of the enterprises, business associations, vocational training centers and Georgian National Investment Agency. 

 

2012, Business Development Consultant at the World Bank Washington DC

Prepared and delivered Georgian Apparel Value Chain Export Competitiveness Study for the Country Economic Memorandum - “Georgia Rising - Sustaining Rapid Economic Growth Report”, World Bank 2013.

 

2009-2010, Business Association of Georgia

  • Business Association of Georgia (BAG) is the largest business association in Georgia, uniting more than 100 major medium and large companies in the country, promoting a favorable business environment, presenting and advocating the member companies’ interests in different government and international bodies. 
  • In addition to day-to-day management of the Association, I was directly involved in the establishment process and strategy development of the Association, institutional strengthening and further implementation of the organizational strategy. 
  • Shaping of the Association’s membership growth sales and marketing strategy, including membership value creation through technical, executive and intellectual support to the beneficiaries, the Supervisory Board and committees of the Association. 
  • As a result, in the first two years of the Association’s existence, my contribution and fundraising activities resulted in increasing the number of the Association members to 60, with the annual membership fee of $ 10,000 USD per company, creating a solid basis for the functional and financial sustainability of the Business Association.The organization is the first-ever non-governmental business association in the former Soviet Union countries, with a $1 mln independent sustainable budget, comprised of membership fees only, which has been sustainably functioning for the last 14 years. 

 

2007-2008, Microsoft Business Development Manager at UGT, Georgia

  • UGT is the leading IT Solutions company in Georgia selling various global vendors’ IT products in Georgia. 
  • As a Microsoft Business Development Manager, my functions included Microsoft products sales and marketing activities in Georgia, key account management and B2B customer relationship management. Additionally, I was responsible the relationship management with Microsoft Corporation (Dublin, Ireland and Redmond, USA) and “Gold Certified Partner” and “Large Account Reseller” highest statuses retention for UGT. 
  • My contribution resulted in selling the first-ever Microsoft Product (Enterprise Agreement) in Georgia to German Bank “Procredit Bank”. The Microsoft Enterprise Agreement (EA) is a volume licensing package for organizations with 500 or more users or devices. Under this agreement, 

organizations can acquire licenses for Microsoft products and services, such as Office 365, Azure, and Dynamics 365, while taking advantage of volume discounts.. 

  • Another one of my achievements in this position was obtaining the relevant licence for opening the first Microsoft Authorized Learning Center in Georgia, under UGT.

  • Designed, prepared and delivered the lectures on Introduction to International Business for third year BBA students.
