I have worked in retail for two years, specifically as a receiver of book and primarily non-book merchandise. I have great experience with restocking, communicating regularly with publishers/distributors to address mis-shipment/damage/shortage claims. working with invoices and basic math. I was the point person for Sidelines (non-book) merchandise, and was often restocking/cleaning up our displays and inventory. I would occasionally assist the sales floor as well as a cashier. I am a self-starter, and a very curious person. I am very punctual and organized, and my forte is working within a team. I learned a lot in my time at Harvard Book Store, and I feel that I need a new opportunity to strengthen my skills!

Primary retail experience: Harvard Book Store

Position: Receiving, Returns, & Shipping Assistant (February 2023- February 2025)

Position: Seasonal Shipper (November 2022-February 2023)

Responsibilities: 

• Timely and accurate processing of non-book sideline items (Harvard clothing, HBS merch, etc), as well as book items
• Receiving and easy identification of regular stock and/or customer order shipments and preparation of inventory for the sales floor
• Processing books for author events, our Signed First Editions Club or other promotions 
• Liaising with publishers and distributors and coordinating our incoming stock, claiming damages, requesting replacements, and other duties
• Regular contact with the department Supervisor, Store Managers, the Buying Manager 
• and Assistant Managers, and the Marketing Manager, regarding any questions about the accuracy of the Store’s inventory database 
• Occasionally assist with the timely and accurate shipping of customer orders, troubleshooting mis-shipments, and communicating with customers about orders in transit.
• Occasionally assist the sales floor by covering the cash register and information desk
• Taking point on special Sidelines & shipping projects 
• Communicating with the Assistant Managers; the Receiving, Returns & Shipping Supervisor; and Warehouse staff about shipping supply needs.
• Fielding and responding to customer queries—emailed or phoned—about outstanding orders and orders in transit; drawing in other staff from various departments as necessary.
