Wesley Bea

I love facing challenging problems. At Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, I am a Freshman majoring in Electrical Engineering. 
Through the "Learn by Doing" philosophy, I tackle technical problems with a "hands on approach", by using critical thinking and collaboration. I excel in a collaborative environment with others who have a similar mindset. My intentions are fueled by the opportunity to provide change and a tangible impact on others. In my free time, I love biking, trying new restaurants, and volunteering to help kids with special needs.

Concerning my interest in electrical engineering, I have previously interned at Soleeva Energy, where I collaborated with other engineers to research and implement cutting-edge solar panels. I analyzed data from prototype solar panels to demonstrate the various efficacies based on location. I developed data models to recommend specific solar panels for efficiency. Additionally, I have interned at my local volunteering organization, Animal Assisted Happiness. I conducted feasibility studies to bring internet access to rural locations. I researched and provided recommendations for the use of different technologies. At the end of the summer, I created and presented a presentation to pitch to the owners.

Currently, I am pursuing my undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I have intentions to graduate between 2027-2028. Aside from experience through my Electrical Engineering classes where weekly, I worked in small groups to tackle problems and create circuits. I graduated from Mountain View High School in Mountain View, CA with a GPA of 4.71(10 Advanced placement and 8 Honors Classes). I spent part of my summer at Northeastern University where I studied engineering principles from faculty; and performed labs: heart monitors & prosthetics. I teamed up with fellow engineers in a research setting and created a final presentation and project to demonstrate proficiency in skills learned.
