Vickie Braxton

A native of Washington, DC, I currently serves as the Senior Trainer and Instructor in Hospitality and Food Service Management for Sunflower Bakery in Rockville, Maryland.  Sunflower is a training and production facility for students on the Autism spectrum with co-occurring diagnoses. Some of my graduated students serve as guest service representatives, servers or cashiers at Woodmont County Club, Wegman’s (various locations), Nothing Bundt Cakes (various locations), Adventist Hospital and other food service or hospitality organizations. 

I specialize in training individuals in underserved populations including at-risk youth, people with educational and learning differences, unemployed and homeless persons, returning I have also worked for The Close-Up Foundation as a Program Instructor in government and civic engagement, and as a Program Facilitator for the Prestigious American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Summer Institute in 2018 and 2019.  I have been training and teaching for over 30 years. 

 Beginning in 1999 and until its closing due to the COVID pandemic, for over 20 years, I worked as the Director of Administration for Super Leaders Incorporated, an at-risk, leadership and mentoring non-profit previously located in the District of Columbia and founded by Brig Owens of the Washington Redskins and Gene Upshaw of the Los Angeles Raiders, both former directors of the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA). In my position with Super Leaders I was responsible for the oversight of programs at 7 schools – 5 in the District of Columbia, 1 in Montgomery County and 1 in Prince George’s County—in the Super Leaders Mentoring, Life Skills and College/Workforce Readiness Program.  I worked on several occasions as a meeting and events planner for the NFLPA and Super Leaders programs including annual golf-tournaments and auction fundraisers, by coordinating the logistics for various entertainers, athletes and other VIPs.

Since 2018, I also serve as an Adjunct Instructor at Prince Georges Community College in the department of Wellness, Culinary Arts and Hospitality where I currently teach a number of Hospitality courses. I also served as a Workforce Development instructor for the College specializing in Customer Service and Life Skills Development. 

I am a skilled educator and trainer, proficient in Adult Education/Training, Curriculum Design & Methodologies, Online Learning Systems, Student Assessment, and hybrid and remote learning modalities. 

I am currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education/Community Care and Counseling and have both an undergraduate degree from Thomas Edison State University and a master’s degree from Liberty University in human services with a focus on Juvenile Justice Programs.
