Valeria Romo Porras

My name is Valeria. I am a high school student in Sacramento, CA. When it comes to any project, I become very passionate and seek to present my best work. As a Senior in high school, I challenge myself by taking accelerated courses like Honors and AP classes. I am involved in many clubs and programs. My most notable programs are the FFA and the Sheriff's Explorers Program.
 
As an FFA student, I have discovered incredible things about myself, my community, and agriculture. For the first time, I learned to propagate succulents and other plants to run a small business selling them at school; moreover, I raised Turkeys for the Sacramento County Fair for two years. Lastly, I participate in public speaking competitions where I have gone to compete in many places within California.
 
As a Sergeant in the Sacramento Sheriff's Program, I gained pride in being present and serving my community while being a role model for others. I trained to be able to protect myself and the public as well. I went as far as to compete against other Explorer POSTs around California. I received numerous MVP awards for doing well in various scenarios by effecting a DUI arrest and working as a "Crime Scene Investigator" (CSI). 
 
I am looking for part-time employment to help my parents financially and to be able to pay for my education in the future.

I have accumulated over 300 hours of Community Service throughout these past four years by volunteering in various community events. These events have taught me to work in a fast-paced environment, help the organizers with their needs, and cater to customers with quality service.

I am currently a Senior at Sheldon High School.
