Tony Cochran

With years of experience in social reform, advocacy, and labor organizing, my work has focused on creating systemic change, particularly around issues of housing, justice, and harm reduction. I’ve advocated for marginalized communities, and my approach has always been rooted in solidarity and empowerment.

For many years, I’ve worked as a union organizer with UPS, representing workers’ rights through collective bargaining and efforts toward workplace justice. More recently, I’ve transitioned back into direct services, where I now focus on supporting unhoused individuals, applying trauma-informed care, crisis de-escalation, and harm reduction practices. I’ve received training in Narcan use, mental health first aid, and CPR, and have used these skills to engage with individuals facing housing instability, mental health issues, and substance use.

My passion for public health and advocacy began in college when I volunteered for AIDS Support and Prevention programs. I continue to incorporate these values into my work today.

Additionally, I’ve engaged in independent research under the guidance of Mark Cousins (former professor at the Architectural Association in London), exploring political philosophy, psychoanalysis, and the relationship between incarceration and the state. My work, including Prison As Power: Being and State Contra Negativity and Notion, reflects my ongoing interest in social justice and the human condition.

At my core, I believe that systemic change comes from a deep commitment to individuals, relationships, and community-based action.
