Toghrul Rasulov

I am a highly motivated individual with a passion for Data Science and Machine/Deep Learning. I began my postgraduate journey with a Doctorate in Management Science at UTD but later switched to a Master's program to pursue my passion more fully. Prior to my academic pursuits, I gained over 2 years of experience as a quantitative analyst in the Oil & Gas industry. With certifications as a TensorFlow Developer and Azure Data Scientist, as well as successful completion of Ph.D. qualifying exams in optimization, advanced statistics, probability, and stochastic processes, I am now seeking a challenging role in the data science field where I can utilize both my academic research background and industry experience to solve complex real-world problems.

I was a Research Assistant at the University of Texas at Dallas from August 2019 to January 2023. During this time, I made significant contributions to the field of machine learning and optimization. I was part of a joint research group developing a machine learning learning-enabled pricing and capacity optimization framework. My work involved using various tools such as Python, MATLAB, and optimization tools to perform calibrated numerical studies and parametric estimations. I also presented research papers at annual conferences such as INFORMS and POMS and led coding labs for advanced graduate courses in Statistics, Stochastic Models, and Applied Machine Learning. 

Before this, I was a Cost Estimating Analyst at SOCAR Polymer from August 2017 to August 2019. During this time, I worked on building predictive models for project cost estimation, and statistical simulations for cost and risk analysis which contributed to the estimation accuracy of the models and reduced the risk contingency budget of the project significantly. I also supported the development of a relational database for the project control/planning team, incorporating vendor quotations, in-house data, and published data sources.

I am pursuing a Master of Science in Business Analytics with an emphasis on Data Science from the University of Texas at Dallas and am expected to graduate in May 2023. I have also successfully completed my Ph.D. preliminary exams in Optimization, Probability and Stochastic Processes and have passed my Ph.D. qualifying exams in Advanced Statistics, Econometrics, and Game Theory.
