I love teaching and the active dialogue between students and teacher.  Students need to be guided to develop a passion for learning and specifically in the area of psychology for the understanding of people.  People need to be understood from the standpoint of individual uniqueness and accepted for who they are, not what you may want them to be.

I have specialized my counseling experience to the area of Thanatology.  I have worked with over 100 grievers in the past 25 years walking the journey of grief, a human life experience that no one is truly prepared for until you are walking in those shoes.  I did my internship at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx working with the dying and their families as well as working as a member of a team.  This experience was both a real life learning experinece for me as well as a life-changing one.  I have taught on the Graduate Level at the College of New Rochelle School of Human Services.  The courses I taught were: Introduction to Counseling, Family Therapy, Multicultural Counseling, Group Counseling, Working with at Risk Students.  I was hired following my graduation in 1997, to begin teaching in the spring of 1998.  I taught every semester from the Spring, 1998 to the Spring, 2009.  I was forced to give up my adjunct position because I was named Assistant Principal at The Ursuline School, but my desire for the classroom outweighed my desire to be an administrator.  I returned to the classroom at Ursuline, but did not seek to return the College of New Rochelle.  I have also been employed by Coxe and Graziano as the in-house Bereavement Counselor since 2004, facilitating bereavement groups. The bereavement process is where I have most used my knowledge of psychology as well as in dealing with students and their families.
