TANUKA BANERJEE

I started my career as a Biomedical R&D Engineer in DESUN hospital and heart institute in Kolkata, India after I finished my masters in Instrumentation Science back in 2012. My main role was to maintain the hospital medical devices and equipment and check their functionality before their use and calibrate medical equipment from the hospital and from other hospitals that are under our service plan. However, as a junior R&D engineer, my job was to assist in an ongoing project for making a prototype for a touch-screen ventilator monitor for easier use for nurses and technicians. Unfortunately, due to lack of funding and budget cut, that project was stalled at the end of 2013 even after our team made an excellent effort in successfully processing digital signals from the ventilator.  

I was always interested in working on design and development. I decided I wanted to pursue my career in medical device research and use the advancement of technology. That motivated me to come here to the United States to specialize in Biomedical engineering. I did work on building a couple of prototypes for medical device design projects, one of them was for a year under Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Karl West’s Biomedical Engineering team. I had worked with DHR and DHF under all my job tenures. 

As a Manufacturing and Calibration engineer II in Fluke Health Solutions, I am responsible for the RaySafe products on the US site. We have a global team, I work with our team in Europe (Sweden, Norway, France) in developing the calibration procedure, processes, maintaining the metrology of the Mammography and X-ray labs on-site for servicing our customer units compliant with ISO 17025 and device specification (A2LA, NVLAP), implement GMP, lean and six sigma through Kaizen time to time to achieve improvement and good quality of production. 

Recently I am leading the engineering team in Fluke health Solutions under the supervision of our engineering manager collaborating with Europe and undertaking various projects in the Landauer production site, Fluke Biomedical BMS and RMS devices along with my RaySafe production laboratories.
