Sushmitha Madaboosi

Experienced in program administration for community-based non-profit, and policy advocacy and research for state government. Adept at working with at-risk youth and young adults in educational and healthcare settings. Highly skilled at designing effective communications through digital media presentations for creating awareness and campaigns.

My professional experience includes work in the government and non-profit sectors. 

As a volunteer coordinator for Caught Up Mentoring in Detroit, Michigan, I collaborate with educators to drive forward in the goals of the organization’s after-school program, Project Empower. I streamlined and implemented recruitment and onboarding processes for volunteers using skills in communication, community engagement, and digital outreach.

Furthermore, as the Johns Hopkins Health Policy Institute fellow, I gained professional experience in the office of Senator Shelly Hettleman during the 2023 Maryland General Assembly legislative session. I have synthesized research, produced policy briefs and summaries, and drafted testimony for senate committee hearings on a wide range of public health policies such as environmental health, overdose prevention, welfare reform, criminal justice reform, and reproductive health access.
