Steven Novak

I’m a full stack developer and software architect with over 20 years of experience building scalable, high-performance web applications. I specialize in ColdFusion, JavaScript, React, SQL, and RESTful API development, with a strong focus on clean code, system architecture, and user experience.

At Connected Controls Inc., where I serve as CTO, I led the design and development of patented cloud-based systems that power wireless air-brake testing technology used by major Class 1 railroads across North America. I architected real-time data pipelines, built secure APIs, and developed mobile and web dashboards to support field operations.

I also own and operate Lake-Link.com, one of the most visited outdoor recreation platforms in the U.S. I manage all aspects of the site’s development, from backend infrastructure and API integrations to front-end features and SEO strategy. I also launched and run a BigCommerce-based eCommerce store to promote and sell outdoor product deals.

I thrive in hands-on technical roles, enjoy solving complex problems, and bring a proven ability to lead projects from concept through deployment in Agile environments.

I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus in Accounting and Marketing from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. While my degree is business-focused, I’ve built a career applying those foundational skills to software development, digital strategy, and technical leadership across full-stack web platforms.
