Sonia S. Bellara is a vascular neurology fellow at Mount Sinai Hospital, where she leads acute stroke response teams and mentors trainees in high-volume neurocritical settings. She completed her neurology residency at SUNY Downstate/Kings County Hospital, serving as Wellness Chief Resident and gaining extensive experience in diverse patient care. Her academic interests include stroke quality improvement, advancing equity in neurological care and medical education. Dr. Bellara has published in Neurology, Stroke: Vascular and Interventional Neurology, and Alzheimer’s & Dementia.

Sonia Bellara is a vascular neurology fellow at Mount Sinai Hospital, with expertise in acute stroke care, advanced neuroimaging, and multidisciplinary neurocritical management. She has led high-volume stroke response teams, streamlined door-to-needle and door-to-groin times, and coordinated inter-hospital transfers to expand access to thrombectomy. During her neurology residency at SUNY Downstate and Kings County Hospital, she managed complex neurocritical cases in diverse populations, gained additional training in neuromuscular disorders, and served as Wellness Chief Resident. Her experience spans clinical leadership, trainee mentorship, and quality improvement, with a strong academic portfolio of peer-reviewed publications in leading neurology journals.
