05/25 to 9/25: Procedure Writer: Edgewater Technical Associates/BWXT- Nuclear Fuel Services, Erwin, TN. Procedure Writer working on BWXT’s U-Metal Project, developing, maintaining, updating, and providing accurate copies of Unclassified and Classified procedureslity.

  • Provide support and coordination in the preparation, development, and routing of new or revised technical, operating, maintenance, laboratory, or administrative.
  • Developing 8 cleanout procedures for the U-Metal Project

05/23 to 05/25: Senior Shift Procedure Writer: Savannah River Tritium Enterprise/Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, Aiken, SC. Qualifying to be Shift Writer at the Tritium Facility at Savannah River Site developing, maintaining, updating, and providing accurate copies of Unclassified and Classified procedures for the Tritium Facility.

  • Provide support and coordination in the preparation, development, and routing of new or revised technical, operating, maintenance, laboratory, or administrative procedures within the framework of the functional areas or division assigned.
  • Draft and revise administrative, operating, laboratory, and maintenance procedures, descriptive manuals , data sheets, sketches and other documents to enable site personnel to perform activities within their area of responsibility that affect quality or safety in accordance with prescribed procedure documents.
  • Provide support to owners, designees, and other site employees to resolve routine procedure issues in direct or indirect support of a specific facility(or facilities), location, or functional area.
  • Route and track procedures through all stages of the procedure process cycle.
  • Maintain accurate log of active procedures, prepare various tracking and trending reports as required.
  • Conduct regular and periodic reviews ofd active procedures according to established site guidelines, in response to organizationa, technical, or administrative changesor at management direction.
  • Qualifying Communicator/Recorder for Tritium Facility casualty situations.
  • As of 04/24, Performed 28 Immediate Procedure Change incorporation revisions to improve procedure useability.

01/22 to 05/23: Procedure Writer: UDR Consulting for Hanford Mission Integrated Solutions, Hanford, WA Working on HMIS Vice President’s project as point of integration to develop process for taking HMIS Hanford procedures and converting/adapting to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Guides/HoloLens format. Provided procedure management, writing, editing, and publishing support for the approximately 2,1001,900 HMIS Level 1, 2, and 3 documents. These documents include Charters, Guidance Documents, Management Directives, Management Plans, Policies, Procedures (including administrative, technical, and emergency response), Requirements documents and Standards.

  • Work with SMEs to enter procedures into Guides.
  • Assist in field testing of Guides using a HoloLens device.
  • Ensure review, validation, and approval requirements for Technical Procedures (HMIS-PRO-MS-589) are met.
  • Ensure Guides are maintained current.
  • Ensure proper configuration management and maintenance of Guides and corresponding procedures in the HMIS Procedure System.
  • Ensured Guides processes, development review and validation met standards and regulations for Hanford procedures.
  • Developed process for placing Guides in the real world for accuracy and ease of use by Procedure Writers and Operators in the field.

 

9/19 to 01/22: Shift Procedure Specialist: Hanford Waster Treatment and Immobilization Plant, Hanford, WA. Reports to the Facility Procedures Supervisor and is responsible for developing and maintaining the plant operating procedures to support safe and compliant operations of systems and facilities. Performs work in accordance with Plant Operations and other applicable project procedures in accordance with policies and all applicable laws, regulations, Contract, Authorization Basis, and technical requirements. Served as Shift Writer for Operations Support dealing with procedure reviews, approvals and revisions. Assigned for development of surveillance procedures for safety operations. 

  • Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment
  • Administer procedure process activities including:
  • Developing procedures - component noun naming, procedure requirements identification, procedure design, procedure development, quality verification, procedure review and approval process
  • Revising procedures - review and incorporate revisions due to program changes, design changes, lessons learned, operating experience
  • Develop and revise facility operating procedures, alarm response procedures, maintenance procedures, TSR surveillance procedures, abnormal operating procedures, and emergency operating procedures
  • Ensure that personnel responsible for the commissioning of the facility have complete, technically accurate procedures to operate the facility in a safe and efficient manner
  • Coordinate communication among support groups and the area facilities to ensure optimum support of completing commissioning phase operations training and procedures scope
  • Assist in the performance of observations and assessments to ensure activities are safely and correctly conducted

 


 

02/19-05/19: Power Plant Operator: McNary Lock and Dam, Umatilla Oregon for US Army Corps of Engineers 

  •  Serves as a fully qualified hydro station operator at a hydroelectric power project with one or more adjunct operating facilities/features consisting of navigation lock, fishways, pumping plant, and spillway. 
  • Makes regular and specific inspections of project areas and equipment. Performs light cleaning, lubrication of equipment, and Operator-related PM's. Maintains security surveillance of the project. 
  • Operates power project equipment to prescribed standards as directed, such as stopping, starting, synchronizing, adjusting load and voltage, 13.8 KV and 4.16KV hydroturbines
  • Operates navigation lock and control machinery for valves and gates in passing vessels through high, single-lift locks, and operates gates to control flows and pool levels or to discharge debris. 

 

10/12 to 12/18: Supervising Operator: Belle River Power Plant, East China, MI, for DTE Energy.

  • Responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable regulation of fuel, air, water, and steam controls along with generator controls for the purpose of providing system voltage control and company revenue from megawatt production while satisfying all environmental regulations, legal requirements and Fossil Generation directives. 
  • Trains and directs the activities of the power plant operators and acts as the Operating Authority's delegate in the implementation of the Protective Tagging System PPO-77 (Lock out – Tag out).
  • Provides direction of maintenance supervisors and crafts personnel, and outside support groups to perform work while meeting OSHA safety regulations. 
  • Served as Operations Outage Coordinator.
  • Operated 2 Main Turbine Generators, each generating 612 Net Mw. Supervised operators in the field on each Unit and operated DCS controls for that system as well as Fuel Supply, common and auxiliary operations for Belle River Power Plant, coordinating with Merchant Operations and System Supervision with connection to 26KV and 345KV portions of the Electrical Grid

 

10/09 to 10/12: Control Room Operator/Outside Support Operator:  Qualified Operator on a prototype waste treatment facility as a part of the Idaho Cleanup Project, having participated in Technical Safety Requirements implementation, and the different levels of Operational Readiness Reviews to get the Integrated Waste Treatment Unit certified for treatment of mixed waste following construction operations.

Qualified Outside Support Operator and Control Room Operator (1 of 12 CROs out of 31 Operators) for a prototype facility in startup.

  • Developed operating procedures and forms for pre-operational checks, start up, normal operations and shutdown of systems in the IWTU.
  • Assisted with the development of Test Instructions for acceptance testing for the IWTU
  • Developed plans, procedures and forms for the implementation of the SAR and TSR for the IWTU, coordinating between Design Engineers, Maintenance, Document Writers and Operations Manager to accomplish the goals.
  • Assisted with the development of Preventative Maintenance schedule for the IWTU
  • Was Operations representative in the certification of IWTU DCS Simulator.

 

11/93 to 06/09: US Navy Nuclear Qualified Machinist Mate:  US Navy, Various locations (USS John C Stennis CVN-74, SIMA San Diego, USS Carl Vinson CVN-70, Naval Station Norfolk)

  • Worked as maintenance man as well as work center supervisor with regards to preventative maintenance for Reactor Plant support equipment. Managed Physical, Mechanical Dimensional, Thermal calibration lab for USS John C Stennis and supported Carrier Battle Group 7 and Carrier Air Wing 7 operations with regards to calibrations. Managed Maintenance responsibilities for Engineering and Reactor Departments as well as refueling operations of USS Carl Vinson in the Reactor Complex Overhaul.
  • Qualified all In Rate Watches for Reactor Mechanical Division, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Maintenance Man, Repair Parts Petty Officer and Work Center Supervisor with regards to preventative maintenance, for 2 carriers and one repair shop.
  • Completed Shipboard Calibrations class and supervised the operations of USS John C Stennis Physical, Dimensional, Thermal, Mechanical Calibrations lab, directly supervising 4 personnel and responsible for 70,000 pieces of calibrated equipment
  • Responsible for work center RM12 preventative maintenance and directly supervising fifteen personnel.
  • Managed Calibrated tools, weight handling gear, HAZMAT Lockers, and Government Vehicles assigned to SIMA San Diego, Shop 31D/31P
  • As Floor Supervisor, directly supervised 20 personnel working in 31D on over 200 valve repair operations.
  • As Documenter, managed over 200 work packages from creation to completion for 31D
  • Trained three workers to take over Documenter responsibilities.
  • Completed Hazardous Material Control and Management Technician class, receiving NEC 9595
  • Ensured the smooth operation of both Reactor Department and Engineering Department Preventative Maintenance systems, for a combined 50 workcenters, directly supervising the maintenance programs for all involved. Ensuring record keeping, qualifications, deficiencies, training and testing were all kept up to date and in accordance with instructions. Also ensured Reactor Complex Overhaul layup and startup maintenance were tracked and planned for properly over the 44 month, planned refueling operation.
  • Assigned to Quality Assurance office and managed Engineering Department's 3M Program (Preventative Maintenance).
  • Generated and proofread new qualifications exams for all Quality Assurance qualifications and audited and organized all Controlled Work Packages in QA, including all in progress, awaiting work and completed
  • Qualified Watch Commander, Dispatch Operator and Patrolman Qualified Brig Escort, directly supervising team of 5 watchstanders and up to 25 restricted personnel in low security detention. Also maintained the training for over 20 staff members for Restricted Barracks, Naval Station Norfolk.
