Shane Fernandez

Over the last 7 years, I have developed skills in data visualization, anti-money laundering

compliance, cost control, process automation, and multi-platform marketing . I enjoy working in

highly-collaborative, diverse environments, and I hope to find a career that aligns with my values

and purpose. Through my wellness business, I have been blessed to collaborate with many

facilitators to build a unique, perspective-challenging community that continues to blossom.

In my first meaningful position as a general manager of a Jersey Mike's location in

Sacramento, I worked closely with a team of ~20 people of all ages and many different

backgrounds. It was here that I developed essential organization, prioritization, and

communication skills at a young age. At only nineteen, I earned my team’s respect

through my authenticity and transparency. I learned to keep records, manage inventory,

run promotional marketing, and hire/reprimand staff.

From then on, I supported myself through higher education, often working 40+ hours a

week to afford rent and tuition. During this time, I worked as a barista in Santa Barbara

and a bartender in Pacific Beach.

After graduating from SDSU, I got a corporate position at Axos, a San Diego based

commercial lending bank. Here I learned how to break down large data sets into

digestible graphics, adhered to strict reporting standards set by FINRA, became familiar

with the operations and structure of a large organization, became proficient in a

multitude of computer programs such as excel and tableau, and formed close

professional relationships with department heads across the company that aided

immensely in moving projects along quickly.

Today, in my freetime, I run a collective that centers around wellness and connection.

We host weekly practices (such as yoga), and host a variety of growth oriented events(such as a media stress management group). Although it has only been a year, this

group has brought me a considerable amount of fulfillment and has introduced me

to so many creative and talented people. I believe that a strong community has the

power to improve mental health, offer support during difficult periods, advance career

opportunities, and ultimately create a more balanced lifestyle. This work is absolutely

necessary and will not go away as long as humanity exists.

I received a Bachelors in Economics after attending Santa Barbara City College and San Diego State University.
