About Seaira Crea:
I am currently a 2L at Florida International University College of Law. I hope to apply my skill set to your company and I believe that my academic background and training have prepared me well for this position. Since my time at FIU Law, I have maintained a 3.4 GPA, joined FIU Law Review, and became a member of Moot Court. I was a Quarter-Finalist during Florida International University’s 20th Annual Intramural Appellate Advocacy Competition and was awarded the Brief Runner-Up brief for the petition. Last summer I interned at the Broward County Public Defender’s Office in the Felony Division. I graduated with a B.A. in Arts from the University of Central with a degree in Philosophy with a minor in Linguistics and a TEFL Certification. I also have experience with debate as a competitor and an instructor.
Experience
During my time at the Broward County Public Defender’s Office, I engaged in docket organization, client relations, legal research, trial preparation, and note-taking. I developed a greater capacity for empathy and professionalism. As a current member of FIU’s Law Review, I edit articles for FIU’s legal journal. Participating in Law Review has helped cultivate meticulous attention to detail and an appreciation for the complexities within various legal topics. While participating in FIU’s Moot Court, I have continued to harness my skills in legal research and writing. In the upcoming year at FIU Law, I will be competing in the American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition in Boston, Massachusetts. I am very interested in getting more involved with FIU’s Real Probate Trust Law Society and I am very eager to enhance my experience and knowledge in Wills, Trusts, and Estates.
Through debate, I learned critical thinking, problem-solving, logical reasoning, time management, and team building. As an English and debate instructor in Songdo, South Korea, I was responsible for introducing debate concepts and training to students. This led to both of my teams achieving first and second place in our district competition. The experience aboard taught me patience and how to adapt to stressful circumstances. I hope to vigorously pursue a career in law and believe that an opportunity at your firm would be extremely meaningful while allowing me to positively contribute to your company.
