Scott Beck

I've been working in web development since 2001 in a wide range of development environments and stacks. My primary skill set is problem solving and research. I know many different programming languages including TypeScript, Perl, C/C++, bash.. The primary operating system I use is Linux which I've worked devops for on VPS and hardware servers.

I began working with technology in the US Army in 1997 in Ft Hood TX, where I worked in 4th ID force XI. I was part of a SIV (systems integration Vehicle) team. My responsibilities included working with system architect contractors in the fields to maintain and upgrade data radio systems.

Once my ETS in 1998, I did computer tech support in Austin TX and quickly found I had an aptitude for software development.

In 2001, I moved to a web development job in Vancouver BC, Canada. My title was lead software developer. My responsibilities at Gossamer Threads included:

• building and maintaining a web hosting solution based on Gentoo linux
• developing web applications which were sold as products
• devops on 200 linux servers

In 2006 I left Gossamer Thread and started doing web development contract work. In the following years I worked at non-profit organizations in Colorado and Vermont doing IT operations.

All of my relevant education has been outside of Universities, software development conferences and OTG training.
