Samantha Barnes

I am a dedicated Mental Health Technician currently working full-time at Discovery Mood and Anxiety, where I provide compassionate care to individuals navigating mental health challenges. I am also pursuing my Master’s in Social Work full-time, building on my four years of undergraduate education in psychology and over a year of experience in mental health crisis intervention within inpatient psychiatric settings.

Trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and de-escalation techniques, I am committed to fostering safe and supportive environments for individuals in distress. My goal is to become a licensed clinical social worker, using my expertise to empower others and promote mental well-being.

When I’m not working or studying, I enjoy exploring new ways to engage with the world of mental health care and advancing my skills to better serve my future clients.

I have a strong background in mental health care, with experience that includes my current role as a full-time Mental Health Technician at Discovery Mood and Anxiety. Previously, I worked at Four Winds Hospital for nine months, gaining valuable experience in mental health crisis intervention within an inpatient psychiatric setting. This role built on my foundation of four years of undergraduate education in psychology.

I’m trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and de-escalation techniques, which have prepared me to manage high-stress situations effectively. Currently, I’m pursuing a Master’s in Social Work, working toward my goal of becoming a licensed clinical social worker.

I have an undergraduate degree in psychology with a minor in sociology, which provided me with a solid foundation in understanding human behavior and social systems. I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Social Work at Fairfield University, where I am deepening my knowledge and skills to work in clinical social work and make a positive impact on individuals' mental health and well-being.
