I've graduated from SW BOCES Technical School with a Certificate in HVAC Installation and Repair and obtained my EPA 608 Universal. During the course we studied and practiced: 

1. Diagnostic techniques
2. Charging by superheat, subcooling and weigh-in methods
3. Evacuation and recovery of refrigerant
4. Brazing/soldering
5. Leak checking
6. Change-out procedures 
7. Interpreting blueprints
8. Wiring electrical controls 
9. Proper safety procedures when troubleshooting and repairing electrical issues
10. Working with the instruments used in HVAC-R
