About Ryan Emerich:
I graduated from MSOE in May of 2023 with a B.S. in Software Engineering and minor in Mathematics. I also have Software Engineering internship experience at two different companies. My experience includes numerous and diverse hands-on, team based software engineering project experience. These projects have helped me learn and develop skills in Java, JavaScript, Python, C, C++, C#, Ruby, Database Systems, version control and Scrum. I am currently looking for a full-time Software Engineering position.
My passion for Software Engineering came up through my interests in video games. I was always intrigued about how video games were made and programmed. Before enrolling at MSOE, I have previously made my own video games with skills that I taught myself. Going through the process of getting the game mechanics to work was entertaining to be. I have always enjoyed that feeling of excitement when I finally get a new feature to work. This has naturally guided me towards a career in Software Engineering.
Throughout my time at MSOE, I have learned a variety of Software Engineering skills. One of my favorite skills I learned at school was how to create Mobile Apps. One project in particular that I enjoyed doing is known as the Run Tracker. Me and my partner on this project worked together to create a mobile app that tracks the user's run and shows data from it including the distance, time and pace as well as displaying a map on the screen. Any runs that the user finishes, they can archive it do a SQLite database for permanent storage. This project was unique in the sense that it required us to go outside and run to test the app out.
In the summer of 2022, I interned at Digital Design Corporation. Throughout my time at DDC, I got to see a machine learning AI at work. I spent most of my time here developing a dashboard application in Python that is used to test the machine learning model's accuracy. I also got experience with developing scripts that use Google APIs as well as web app development using Blazor.
The following summer I worked as an intern for Hydro Electronic Devices. This internship had me in a team of 5 creating an application from scratch(to be used by the production team) that interfaces with a machine that can move around in three dimensions. This experience helped me improve my GUI development and Git skills. My internship at HED also taught me valuable skills such as Shell Scripting as well as soft skills including teamwork and project researching skills.
