About Robert Hastidt:
My current passion within Cybersecurity is TLS, the cipher suite, and cryptography in general. This stems from leading a project involving encrypting a proprietary protocol using TLS. I am experienced with Wireshark, Certificate Management, Public Key Infrastructure and Windows Server Administration. I have two years of experience with Networking but 5 years of experience total in IT
Experience
I have two major experiences with IT and Cybersecurity - an internship during high school and my first career out of college. During my high school internship, I learned most of my IT fundamentals. I built out desktops including all the PC components, managed printers and print queues, helped push out windows updates across hundreds of laptops, and general low level IT work.
For first position out of college, I started work at Epic Systems out of Verona, Wisconsin. I worked along with other Windows Server Administrators at Healthcare Systems to manage Epic’s software and push security best practices. I grew to become an expert in Window Server Administration since Epic's software suite uses Windows Servers. I joined two work groups, one with a focus in networking and and the second in cybersecurity. My day to day with these groups involved the use and learning of Citrix Netscalers, Wireshark, and ARR. Towards the end of my time with Epic I began to lead a the project with the goal of guiding healthcare systems to encrypt Epic’s proprietary protocol. This lead me to become a subject matter expert with TLS and develop documentation for both internal and customer use.
Education
I received my bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity from Purdue University. As part of my education I gained experience in building out a network with several endpoints devices, routers, and switches. Most of the network devices were Cisco products, and the endpoint devices were either windows servers with a built out active directory or linux servers acting as a mail server or time server. As a final I created cybersecurity best practice documentation for a company following state and federal requirements and guidelines.
