About Richard Harkness:
I received my bachelor’s in mass media from Valdosta State University. Since then, I've worked in various industries such as non-profit, experiential marketing, and television production. Through those experiences I have learned of the tools needed to execute an event from beginning to end. I learned how to communicate and work with numerous types of personalities and temperaments. I understand that tracking is key and through tracking one can effectively run an event. Through continuous self-education post-graduation, I’ve been able to have personal growth and leadership growth. In the past 4 years I have been working as a Field Coordinator, and within the past two years as a Production Manager. Working with Microsoft office, creating call sheets, booking crew and equipment. Also gaining knowledge and experience in hiring a team, negotiating pay rates, timecards, PC/Amex tracking, building tracking grids, working with accounts payable and more. I've also built a base knowledge around various types of event equipment.
Lastly, I am well-traveled and know how to adapt to my surroundings. I have worked in over 30 states, Hired crews in over 15. To date I have worked on at least 3 travel based shows, and managed at least 3 nationwide tours. I believe that through my education and experience that I am the Manager for the job! Experience
Managing day-to-day activities to complete television shoots days on time, without going over 12-hour work periods, resulting in being under the daily budget distributed per day
• Keeping open and clear channels of communication between the office and field to inform the producers of any changes or activities they should be aware of happening in real time
• Improving time management and efficiency. By refining daily processes and streamlining communication, turning 15hr days into 10hr days. Thus, we reduced our budget by 5% daily
• Tracking daily costs and estimates from vendors needed for equipment or services, keeping the budget updated in real time, allowing faster purchasing decisions
• Communicating project goals and expectations set forth by producing team keeping production team on track of daily goals
• Scheduling daily, weekly, monthly meetings with production team and client ensuring alignment of project plans
• Booking travel arrangements for production team and equipment per location shoot
• Ensuring the on-time delivery of Media footage to post editing team
• Utilizing google docs, one drive, and Dropbox to create grids and documents, giving access to the production company and client
• Working with local governments to ensure all permits have been acquired and filed properly
