Rebecca Walters

I have over 20+ years experience as a graphic designer.  I have a strong background in magazine and print.  I am trained in both PC and Mac but I tend to favor PC. I am well versed in the Adobe Creative Suite with a strong emphasis on Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. However, Canva has proved to be a very worthy design tool.

I start my career out in freelancing to get a feel for the industry. Then I entered into a magazine/ newspaper production environment where I learn discipline in the field. I was an art director for a local industry magazine. I have continued to freelance in all my years as a designer.  Most currently I worked at a Company and re-brandeed for a multi-million dollar company on the escrow side of real estate. I Assisted marketing department with sales tools such as: guides, flyers, sales pop-bys and text graphics and personal social media posts. Personalized promotional materials on an as needed individual basis for employees, as well as clients. Responsible for social media calendar with multiple daily posts and animated reels. Designed magazine ads, as well as company promotional merchandise and monthly company newsletter. Monthly employee achievement awards and the creation of multiple monthly company events. I also paint in acrylics and teach paint parties. 

I learned to paint independently or self taught if you will, and that is what got me into the art field.  I had great respect and inspiration for printed material so when I was older I went to school for it but not in the traditional way.  I went to Platt College when they offered certificates in the design and achieved a certificate and learn core basics of design.  I went to community college, base core education and then attended the Art Institute of Southern California in Laguna Beach, CA.  Most of my education is industry learned and self taught as the industry has changed and some things have become obsolete to the industry (example: Flash or Quark Express).  Keeping on with continued education as those changes/ phase outs/ new programs or approaches occur.
