Peighton Powell

I am a dedicated nursing student set to graduate with my BSN in December 2025, with hundreds of clinical hours in various healthcare settings. My experience as a medical assistant in women's and children's healthcare has strengthened my clinical skills, particularly in IV starts, blood draws, and patient care. I am passionate about providing quality care and ensuring a positive patient experience. As a college athlete and team captain, I have developed strong leadership, time management, and teamwork abilities. I am eager to expand my skill set in phlebotomy and gain further hands-on experience in a clinical setting. 

I have completed extensive clinical training, accumulating hundreds of hours across multiple healthcare settings. My hands-on experience includes patient care, IV insertions, blood draws, and laboratory specimen collection. Through my role as a medical assistant at Mercy Women and Children, I have further refined my clinical skills by assisting physicians and nurses in both pediatric and OB/GYN settings. My responsibilities have included:

Performing patient intake, including vital signs and medical history

Conducting IV starts, blood draws, and administering injections

Assisting with in-office procedures and lab specimen collection

Coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures

Educating patients and providing compassionate support

Additionally, my nursing clinical rotations have strengthened my expertise in phlebotomy and patient care. I have gained hands-on experience in medical-surgical, labor and delivery, mental health, and pediatric settings, practicing critical skills such as venipuncture, patient assessments, and emergency response. My background as a college athlete has also reinforced my ability to work under pressure, maintain strong teamwork, and manage time effectively.

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Missouri State University, with an expected graduation date of December 2025. My rigorous coursework and extensive clinical training have provided me with a strong foundation in patient care, medical procedures, and healthcare best practices.
