Pedro Carmo

I am a collaborative and passionate artist and teacher with more than twenty years of experience in teaching, coaching, acting, directing, writing and producing. As an educator I am committed to the growth of my students, both as performers and people by being able to listen and capture their unique voices. I encourage empathy and curiosity in students of all ages and backgrounds in two languages.

I have a BFA in Acting, a MFA in Film and BS in Economics and I am a member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors Equity Association. I am also a member of Saudade Theatre, the first and only Theatre Company in the USA dedicated to producing original and thought-provoking work grounded in the Portuguese-American consciousness.

Pedro Carmo is an experienced acting teacher, coach, and artist with over two decades dedicated to guiding students and professionals in developing their creative voices. He has taught acting, movement, and storytelling at institutions such as the Professional Performing Arts School in New York through the Waterwell Drama Program, and has led workshops with Saudade Theatre for both professional and non-actors, fostering collaboration, individuality, and expressive freedom. His teaching spans children, adults, and community theater in both Portugal and the U.S., emphasizing empathy, curiosity, and artistic self-discovery. With degrees in Theatre (BFA), Film (MFA), and Economics (BS), Pedro integrates his broad artistic background and international perspective to help students connect personal expression with social awareness and creativity.

Pedro Carmo holds a Master of Fine Arts in Film and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema (ESTC) in Lisbon, Portugal, where he developed a strong foundation in performance, directing, and storytelling. He also completed professional training in acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and the New York Film Academy in New York City, deepening his understanding of Method Acting and screen performance. In addition, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão (ISEG) in Lisbon, adding analytical and organizational skills that complement his artistic work and teaching.
