Osvaldo Arturo Tapia Dueñas

As a professor of computer science research, I am highly skilled and knowledgeable in the field of computer science. I have a natural curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring new technologies and solving complex problems, which is why I love working with computers.

One area of computer science that I find particularly exciting is image processing. Developing algorithms and techniques to manipulate and analyze visual data can have a wide range of practical applications, from medical imaging to security systems to entertainment.

My love for math is also highly relevant in computer science research, as many computer science problems require a strong foundation in mathematical concepts such as calculus, linear algebra, and discrete mathematics. My comfort with mathematical thinking and analysis enables me to develop sophisticated models and algorithms that can be applied to a wide range of problems.

Overall, my passion for computer science and my expertise in image processing and math makes me a valuable contributor to the field of computer science research. My dedication to my work and my willingness to learn and explore new ideas will undoubtedly continue to drive my success and impact in this exciting and rapidly evolving field.

My research is on two-dimensional and three-dimensional image processing. The main goal is to simplify the
information needed to represent objects. We first describe their contour by string codes. Subsequently, we find
patterns embedded in these strings to represent the objects with less information but keeping as much of their
original information as possible. On the other hand, I am interested in developing research in machine learning
and quantum computing. The performance of these technologies is outstanding and very versatile, which are
excellent tools for solving various problems.

An example of my experience as an instructor is from the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes. After
obtaining my M.Sc. degree, I was the instructor of the course "Computer Graphics" in the fall of 2019. I used
creative techniques to engage my students and encourage them to think critically about the material. I was
then the TA of the class "Theory of Computation" in the fall of 2020 and 2021. In this role, I offered guidance
and support to the students as they explored the subject matter. Most recently, I taught "Introduction to
Programming" and "Systems Programming" in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at
Cleveland State University last fall, 2022. I am currently still teaching "Introduction to Programming”.

I obtained an M. Sc. in Computer Science from the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes, Mexico, in July
2018. I am a Ph.D. candidate in Applied Science and Technology from the same institution, with a tentative
graduation date in July 2023. My Ph.D. advisors, Dr. Hermilo Sánchez-Cruz and Dr. Hiram H. López, belong to
the Department of Computer Science at the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes and the Department of
Mathematics and Statistics at Cleveland State University, respectively. Having computer science and
mathematics approaches allowed me to develop fundamentals and applications of computer science to obtain
excellent results. I want to continue doing research mixing the concepts of both areas.
